Compaq Computer Corp and Dell Computer Corp have settled their private spat over Dell’s slagging off Compaq in its ads in the US and the UK, with dismissal of all claims by all parties involved in the litigation with no final adjudication by the courts nor any admission of wrongdoing by any party, although Dell agreed to the entry of consent decrees in the US and UK prohibiting violation of applicable laws in any future Dell advertising that refers to Compaq and Dell is having to pay some cash over to Compaq – all of which seems strange since no-one admitted liability – but no-one will make any further comment.
