Compaq Computer Corp may be better at promoting its AlphaServers against Sun Microsystems Inc than DEC ever was (CI No 3,600), but promotion is all it is, says Sun VP marketing Anil Gadre. Compaq, he says, is not eating into Sun’s server sales and to have had any effect the company should have been building campaigns around its TruUnix and AlphaServer credentials long ago. Remember it’s all about the ISVs Gadre says.
