Putting even more pressure on IBM Corp in what threatens to be a rotten fourth quarter, Compaq Computer Corp and Advanced Logic Research Inc slashed prices on key personal computers. Compaq cut US prices by 25% on existing LTE 386s/20 notebook models and added an 84Mb model at $4,200. Advanced’s BusinessVeisa 486/33 with floppy is halved to $2,000 and others in the line are cut; its new Powerpro Arrays are reduced by 20%.
