High-priced high-performance portable computers have not been big sellers up to now, but Compaq Computer Corp hopes to set the market alight with a 33MHz 80486-based box with Sharp Corp’s new colour thin film transistor active matrix display. The base model of the new $10,000 mains-powered 486c has a 120Mb disk and weighs 17 lbs 8 oz.
