Southwestern Bell Corp has reported a first quarter net profit of $357.7m against a loss last time of $1,914m, which included a $2,130m charge for cumulative effect of an accounting change and $89.4m for early repayment of debt, on turnover that rose 7.7% at $2,646m. Net earnings per share, restated to reflect a two-for-one split in May, were $0.59.
