Ameritech Corp has reported third quarter net profits up to $512.5m, after a $6.9m gain from settlement gains on pension payments and a $41.3m gain from the swap of minority interests in some of its cellular partnerships, up from $102.0m profits last time, which were struck after a $168.1m restructuring charge, on turnover that rose 6.7% at $3,381.4m; nine month net profits rose 115.1% to $1,594.9m, which included a $167m gain from settlement gains, and a $41.3m gain on the cellular swap, against a period that included a $501m restructuring charge, on turnover that rose 5.3% at $9,900m. Net earnings per share doubled to $0.92 in the quarter, 113.3% to $2.88 in the three quarters.
Farnell Electronics Plc has reported that net profits for the six months to July 30 soared by 169.0% at ú51.7m, on turnover that rose 10.9% to ú252.9m. At the pre-tax level, profits were up 148.8% at ú71.3m. Earnings per share were up 25.2% to 17.9p.
