Network Computing Devices Inc has reported a first quarter net loss of $9.2m after a $15m write-off of research and development in progress, and a $4.6m gain on sale of shares in NetManage Inc, against a profit last time of $3.1m, which included a gain of $573,000 from the cumulative effect of an accounting change, on turnover that rose 9.0% at $38.2m.
