COMPANY RESULTS

Comsat Corp has reported first quarter net profit down 6.6% at $18.3m, against a period that included a gain of $1.3m for the cumulative effect of an accounting change, on turnover up 1.9% to $169.5m. Net earnings per share, adjusted for a two-for-one split paid in June 1993, fell 6.2% to $0.45.
