Compaq Computer Corp has reported third quarter net profits up 21.9% at $245m, on turnover up 26.6% at $3,594m; nine month net profits rose 13.3% to $707m, on turnover that was up 32.0% at $10,054m. Net earnings per share rose 18.7% to $0.89 in the quarter, 10.3% to $2.57 in the three quarters.
Data Switch Corp saw third quarter net up 61.6% at $1.6m, on sales up 9.4% at $25.6m; nine month net rose 123.7% to $3.5m, on turnover up 10.2% at $73.7m. Net per share rose 62.5% to $0.13 in the quarter, and 115.4% to $0.28 in the three quarters.
Eastman Kodak Co has reported third quarter net profits up 75.1% at $338.0m, on turnover up 9.8% at $3,877.0m; nine month net profits rose 81.3% to $977.0m, on turnover up 13.3% at $11,078.0m. Net earnings per share rose 73.7% to $0.99 in the quarter, 77.6% to $2.86 in the three quarters.
Electronic Data Systems Corp has reported third quarter net profits up 13.5% at $245.7m on turnover that rose 21.2% at $3,109.1m; nine month net profits rose 14.3% to $669.4m, on turnover that jumped 24.1% at $8,856.2m. Net earnings per General Motors Corp Class E share rose 13.3% to $0.51 in the quarter, 14.8% to $1.40 in the three quarters.International Business Machines Corp, IBM, has reported at third quarter net loss of $538m after wirting off $1,840m of purchased in-process research and development at Lotus Development Corp, against a profit last time of $710m, on turnover that rose by 8.6% at $16,754m. Net profit for the nine months soared 42.2% at $2,647m on turnover that rose 13.3% at $50.020m. Net earnings per share jumped 44% to $4.13 in the nine months.
Platinum Technology Inc has reported third quarter net losses of $28.4m, up from $7.5m losses last time, on turnover up 28.6% at $63.2m; nine month net losses were $44.3m, up from $1.2m losses last time, on turnover that was up 34.2% at $179.9m.
SBC Communications Corp reported third quarter net losses of $2,285.0m, after an extraordinary charge of $2,819.3m for the switch to non-regulated accounting, against $3,001.0m profits the same period last year, on turnover that rose 8.0% at $3,242.0m; nine month net losses of $1,447.8m, after the same charge as before, against $1,224.0m profits last time, on turnover that was up 8.3% at $9,108.4m.
