Northern Telecom Ltd has reported first quarter net profit up 17.3% at $88.0m after a one-time net gain of $72m on the disposition of Northern’s Saskatoon, Saskatchewan fibre optic plant, on turnover that rose 2.9% at $1,999m. Net per share rose 17% to $0.35. The Canadian reports figures in US dollars.
