COMPANY RESULT: TELECOM ITALIA SPA

Italian state mobile telephone company Telecom Italia Mobile SpA, subsidiary of the soon to be privatized Telecom Italia, reported a 40% rise in six-month net profits from $231m to $356m. In the first eight months of the year Telecom Italia Mobile added 2 million subscribers to bring its total number to 7.7 million.
