Sybase Inc, of Emeryville, California has reported first quarter profitability at $3.5m net income, compared to a net loss for the same period in 1996 of $6.9m, on revenues down slightly year on year from $243.7m to $241.9m. Sybase closed its fiscal 1996 with a net loss for the year of $79.0m compared to a loss the previous year of $19.5m, with that $79.0m figure including a third quarter restructuring charge of $49.2m, on turnover of $1.01bn, up from $956.6m in 1995.
