COMPANY RESULT: STERLING SOFTWARE INC

Sterling Software Inc, the Dallas, Texas-based provider of application development and systems management software and services, has reported first-quarter net income down 75.7% at $4.2m on revenue up 3.3% at $174.5m. Earnings per share fell to $0.05 from $0.21. Results for the quarter include restructuring charges of $19.7m and acquisition-related charges of $9.6m.
