EarthLink Network Inc, Pasadena, California-based internet service provider, has reported a third-quarter net loss of $18.8m on revenue up 137.2% at $49.8m, compared to a loss of $7.2m a year ago. Nine-month net loss was $37.2m on revenue up 108.5% at $117.6m, against a loss of $23.3m last year. Results for the quarter include a $17.8m charge for the amortization of assets related to the company’s acquisition of Sprint Corp’s dial-up internet business. Net of the charge, loss for the quarter would have been about $1.1m, or $0.04 per share, beating First Call’s estimate of a loss of $0.12. During the quarter, EarthLink increased its subscriber base by 105,000 to 815,000, a 14.8% increase over the preceding quarter.
