British Telecommunications Plc has reported third quarter net profits up 9.7% at 600.0m pounds, including severance charges of 39m pounds on revenue that rose 3.95% to 3.76bn pounds. Net profits for the nine months to December 31 were up 2.2% at 1.63bn pounds including severance charges of 274m pounds on revenue that rose 4.3% to 11.1m pounds. At the pre-tax level, profits rose 9.7% to 909m pounds in the quarter, and 3.0% at 2.51bn pounds in the three quarters. Net earnings per share rose 8.0% to 9.4 pence in the quarter, and were up 0.8% to 25.7 pence in the three quarters.
