Lotus Development Corp has introduced a Companion Products strategy that will extend the capability of its Notes communications product to manage, send and receive scanned and faxed documents in workgroup computing environments: with Eastman Kodak Co, it is developing Lotus Notes – Document Imaging – which will enable hard copy documents to be integrated and shared by any Notes application; with Calera Recognition Systems Inc and GammaLink Inc respectively, it is working to license and develop the Lotus Notes Optical Character Recognition Server, which will enable faxed and scanned images to be con-verted into editable text and stored in a Notes document, and with GammaLink Inc, it is working to provide complete computer-based facsimile capabilities for Notes; Lotus also said that Lotus 1-2-3 for Windows with Multimedia SmartHelp is now available for $600.
