COMPANIES FIGHTING FOR CONTRACT FROM THE SOLOMON ISLANDS

Cable & Wireless Plc, British Telecom International, Australia’s Overseas Telecommunications Commission and NEC Corp are all now competing for a contract to run domestic and international telecommunications for the Solomon Islands, reports the Financial Times, which notes that Telecom appeared to win the 15-year pact, ousting Cable & Wireless, earlier this year, but hit an impasse on financial terms.
