Despite growing trend of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) companies don’t provide provide ample information about the policy which could increase security, according to a Globo survey.
According to the survey, about 70% of respondents claim to have BYOD policies by 12 months, 14% of respondents did not know if their company has a policy and 91% did not know if their company is to have a BYOD policy.
Globo vice president of business development and marketing Aggelos Grypaios said that with large number of employees already using their personal devices for work, companies should create a BYOD programme and policies that fit the specific needs of the company.
"The next important step is to communicate the policy to employees and make sure that they understand their rights and the rights of the company."
"Defining and managing a BYOD strategy that protects the security of the employee and the employer will keep companies competitive in the market by creating a mobile workforce," Grypaios added.
About 93% replied that they would not be a part of the programme if the company had access to their personal information, 69% of respondents did not want to break a company BYOD policy even if they knew that they would not get caught.
About 68% of the respondents are using their personal devices, whereas 29% conceded about the policy in place.
