CommVault said that its Simpana software will now support Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 to ease migrations to the new Exchange release while enabling customers to protect, manage, archive and recover data stored in Exchange email repositories.

By extending support to include Exchange Server 2010, the company helps customers take advantage of Exchange Server 2010 enhancements, which are designed to lower messaging and operational costs and increase productivity and collaboration.

The company claims that the Simpana software reduces operational and administrative costs by providing a singular product platform with centralised management to safeguard Microsoft Exchange environments through rapid backup along with easy recovery of individual email, folders, mailboxes, and entire Exchange databases and systems.

Simpana Search simplifies content-level indexing along with searching of email messages and attachments to meet eDiscovery requirements. It will also help customers decrease costs through global, embedded deduplication, which can reduce up to 90% of backup and archive Exchange data stored on disk and tape, CommVault said.

Randy De Meno, chief technologist of Windows Product and Microsoft Partnership for CommVault, said: “By announcing Simpana software support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, CommVault is reinforcing our ongoing commitment to optimising and enhancing Simpana software while providing our joint customers with a straightforward migration path to Exchange Server 2010.”
