Commodore International Ltd is expected to launch its challenging Amiga 2000 enhanced version of the present Amiga 1000 home computer at next week’s Hanover Fair, and according to the Newsbytes news wire, the machine is already in production at Commodore’s plant in West Germany. The Amiga 2000, previewed at the beginning of the year (CI No 602), is an expanded, multi-tasking multi-processing version of the 1000, with a 68000-based CPU capable of supporting both an MS-DOS co-processor called Amiga Bridge, and a 68020 co-processor running at 14MHz. The 200 is expected to cost $1,500 with 1Mb CPU and one floppy.
