Nextel Communications Inc reports that the US Justice Department has requested additional information from the Specialised Mobile Radio operator on the acquisition deals it announced last year: the request involves the investigation of possible antitrust violations in the company’s merger agreements with Questar, Advanced MobileComm Inc. and PowerFone, as well as a deal to issue 35.5m new shares in exchange for those despatch communications properties held by Motorola Inc.
