European Commission officials must learn more about telecommunications technology and markets if they are to improve their approach to merger regulation in the sector, says the head of the Commission’s merger task force, Philip Lowe: he adds that he planned to propose changes in competition rules to bring more joint ventures under the regulations, Reuter reports from Brussels.
