Commerce One Inc, headed by Sybase Inc founder and ex- boss Mark Hoffman, has launched version 3.0 of its C1 Buysite electronic procurement application. Strange as it may seem, this is the first version to be web- enabled – the previous version was client-server. Also new this time is the inclusion of workflow software from FileNet Corp. Its Panagon Visual WorkFlo software is claimed to speed the automation of requisition routing and approval and the enforcement of business rules. The product runs on Windows NT and is tightly integrated with Microsoft Corp’s Site Server, following an agreement signed last year. It uses Microsoft’s Active Server page technology, but can work with any browser. It’s available now, but there’s no pricing yet.
