San Jose, California-based Commax Technologies Inc has come out with a new version of its 4 lbs 8 oz Ultrathin battery-powered 80386SX notebook computer with VGA display: the Ultrathinplus uses the new DR-DOS 6.0, which was launched yesterday by Digital Research Inc, which adds MemoryMAX, increasing available memory for MS-DOS, network and Windows applications by up to 627Kb and DiskMAX, which can double the storage capacity of a hard drive; DR-DOS 6.0 also enables multiple CONFIG.SYS files to optimise the system configuration for different application environments, and offers two levels of password security; the new machine has a 60Mb Conner Peripherals Inc disk, an external 1.44Mb floppy, and interchangeable Personaliy Modules offering varied functionality for input-output and communications, notably a Mini-Mouse Pad which replaces the mouse with a small flat membrane pressure-sensitive input surface; it costs $3,300 with 60Mb disk and 4Mb and it arrives late next month.
