Rosemont, Illinois-based Comdisco Inc’s Comdisco Disaster Recovery Services Europe has paid over UKP1m for an IBM Corp AS/400 model E70: it claims it is the only company using a E70 for disaster recovery in the UK; the machine is installed in a purpose-built mobile unit, so that when a customer’s system goes down, the unit can easily be dispatched to take over operations; Disaster Recovery Services Europe was formed by the merger of Comdisco Disaster Recovery with Comdisco Europe in November 1992 (CI No 2,056); the new company also absorbed UK-based Systems On Site and Failsafe ROC Ltd as well as Agerus International SA in France.
