Things appear to be looking up for Anaheim, Californiabased Comarco Inc: in addition to a $6m add-on to an existing software services contract in support of the US Army Logistic Center at Fort Lee, and re-negotiated lease agreements on vacant property in Washington DC that should bring in an extra $300,000 in the next fiscal year, the computer-based services supplier has received various proposals for the supply of 4,000 callbox units, plus options for an additional 2,000, from GTE Cellular Communications Corp. If the deal goes through, it would place Comarco’s solar-powered emergency roadside call boxes on several California county motorways. Comarco is putting a lot of faith in the California market for roadside call box systems, which it says will have an estimated requirement for over 12,000 units in the next year, and believes that other areas of the country are becoming interested in these systems as well – all of which led Harrison Young, president and chief executive to declare himself increasingly optimistic over future operating margins – as long as the sun keeps shining down on those call boxes.
