COLT Telecom Group plc (COLT) announced the opening of another two Internet Solution Centres (ISCs), Brussels and Hamburg, bringing the total to 12. This first Internet Solution Centre in Belgium and third in Germany so early in 2001 ensures COLT will reach its target of between 20-24 ISCs in early 2002. COLT’s essential site criteria include close proximity to the heart of the business centre in each city, an excellent power supply and a building structure that will accommodate rigorous safety requirements as well as allow strict environmental controls.

Our rapid rollout is a reflection of the expertise COLT has in developing large scale Internet application infrastructure projects, says Rob Mainor, Managing Director, COLT Internet. Building on that infrastructure layer we are already rolling out an extensive range of products and services.

Running in parallel with the expansion of its network of ISCs is an aggressive product development plan aimed at providing COLT’s customers with a wide range of professional and managed services including the recently launched Internet mail for businesses, additional messaging products, a managed security portfolio and Windows 2000

Michel de Coster, Managing Director, COLT Telecom Belgium, says: We are very pleased to be able to offer the Belgian e-commerce community a fail safe, secure and modern Internet Solution Centre. Today’s opening event in the 65,000 sq. ft., 1400 rack facility is being supported by all the major industry players – including Cisco, HP and Storage Networks – and has generated significant customer interest. One of the first to take advantage of our managed services and high bandwidth offering is Visitronics, the popular new media designers.

Horst Enzelmuller, Managing Director, COLT Telecom Germany said: The opening of Hamburg’s first Internet Solution Centre is a major milestone in the development of an always on e-business infrastructure for the city. We already have strong interest from Internet Service Providers and large publishing companies, whom we anticipate serving in the 60,000 sq. ft. facility.
