COLT BUYS FRENCH ISP IMAGINET

By CBR Staff Writer

Colt Telecom Group Plc, the European metropolitan area fiber optic network operator, has bought ImagiNet, which claims to be France’s largest independent corporate internet service provider, for around 12m pounds. Colt already operates as an ISP in the UK and Germany and it sees the ImagiNet acquisition as a way to capitalize on the growth of e-commerce in France. ImagiNet, which was set up in 1995, will be managed as part of Colt’s wholly owned French subsidiary Colt Telecommunications France SAS.
