CollabNet launches online development community

Collaborative development software provider CollabNet Inc is taking a dose of its own medicine, as it created a new online community for its CollabNet and Subversion products.

The Brisbane, California-based company has created openCollabNet to provide development teams with free access to product extensions, community resources technical content and support and training.

It is also giving away free versions of CollabNet Enterprise Edition and Subversion, its web development portal and version control offerings, and is welcoming contributions to extending the CollabNet platform, as well as the future direction of its offerings.

The free version of CollabNet Enterprise Edition is based on version 4.5.1 and provides a license for up to 15 users, while CollabNet Subversion is a tested and certified version of the open source Subversion project.

The company’s Enterprise Edition platform is said to be used by more than 500,000 software developers to perform distributed development across their organizations.
