Cognos showcased the tool at IBM’s Lotusphere conference in Orlando yesterday.
Branded as Cognos 8 BI Data Modeler for IBM Lotus Domino, the wizard-based software lets users tap into collaborative data locked away in Lotus Notes applications and databases. Tools are provided to select Notes data sources, tables, and columns, and map them to a common Cognos data metadata model.
As part of the integration, IBM users can also now manage Cognos reports from within their WebSpehere Portals or Workplace Managed Clients, adding a further collaborative twist to BI and performance management settings.
Cognos says the product was co-developed with Sun and Son Inc, a specialist knowledge management firm focused on Notes development and integration.
