The new Blueprint is called Enrollment and Tuition Planning and lets colleges and universities analyze tuition revenues, forecast enrollment and align growth plans to faculty programs and operations.

Enrollment and tuition planning is a fundamental activity for colleges and the two are interlinked and, by extension, are connected to many other critical business processes across the institution, said Terence Atkinson, director of government and education solutions at Ottawa, Ontario-based Cognos.

This is the second higher-education offering that Cognos has rolled out this year. In July it teamed up with Exeter Group and the National Association of College and University Business Officers to deliver an online application designed to help colleges and universities compare their own tuition discounting management strategies with peers and industry norms.

Cognos boasts 1,000 higher-education customers worldwide, including the universities of Toronto, Ulster (Ireland) and Wollongong (Australia).

Cognos Performance Blueprints combine Cognos’ Planning and business intelligence technologies, a preconfigured data model and best practice analytic processes into a single performance management application. The Blueprints are developed by the Cognos Innovation Center for Performance Management. Functional and industry-focused Blueprints have been developed for pharmaceuticals, financial reporting, workforce management, expense and capital expenditure and retail branch performance.

Cognos revealed the Enrollment and Tuition Planning Blueprint at the EDUCAUSE IT for higher education conference in Seattle, Washington last week.
