COGNOS PORTS POWERPLAY TO 64-BIT DEC UNIX

By CBR Staff Writer

Cognos Inc says it has extended support for its PowerPlay analytical processing software, adding a port to Digital Equipment Corp’s 64-bit AlphaServer Unix platform. Cognos said it had chosen to port to DEC because of the company’s installed base in the data warehousing market. Roger Gilleany, business development director for Cognos UK describes it as a relatively simple port, adding that the company is also currently in beta testing with a port to Windows NT running on Digital Alpha. The PowerPlay business intelligence server is currently available on IBM RS6000s running AIX, Hewlett-Packard Co HP/UX, Sun Solaris and Windows NT on Intel.
