Cognos inks new OpenPages alliance

Canadian business intelligence vendor Cognos Inc has extended an agreement with risk and corporate compliance software specialist OpenPages Inc to beef up the latter's compliance dashboards with reporting and query-authoring capabilities.

By CBR Staff Writer

Ottawa-based Cognos will embed its ReportNet Web-based enterprise reporting software into OpenPages’ Command Center for Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Express solution to enhance internal controls reporting capabilities.

The latest deal extends an initial technology integration agreement between the two companies to broaden the reporting capabilities of OpenPages’ corporate governance and risk solution. Cognos isn’t the only BI vendor OpenPages has struck a partnership with.

In June this year the Waltham, Massachusetts-based company announced a similar pact with Cognos’ fierce rival Hyperion Solutions Corp. This agreement allows Hyperion’s Web-based dashboards to directly tap SOX Express data.

OpenPages openly admitted at the time it was pursuing relationships with other BI vendors like Cognos and Business Objects SA.

OpenPages specializes in the development of software for sections 302 and 404 of the SOX Act passed in 2002. Its Express product line includes document management and business process management tools.
