Cognos, IBM and Microsoft got together yesterday to announce a combined business intelligence offering for small to medium size enterprises. The companies said the solution, which is being marketed under IBM’s ServerProven program, provides everything a business would need to set up and manage a data warehouse including business intelligence tools to analyze the data. It consists of the new version of Cognos NovaView 2.0, an OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) client designed exclusively for use with Microsoft’s SQL Server 7.0 OLAP Services; IBM’s Netfinity Server and Microsoft’s SQL Server 7.0 database. Patrick O’Leary, Cognos VP of strategic alliances said the solution was ideal for small to medium sized businesses who want to explore summary-level data, identify trends, perform sophisticated analysis and develop business models and forecasts. The components are available immediately from resellers and distributors.
