COCOM TO LIST PRODUCTS THAT NEED LICENSES FOR EXPORT

CoCom, the Co-ordinating Committee on Multilateral Export Controls that operates out of an annexe to the US Embassy in Paris, is meeting to adopt a core list of products that still need licences for export to countries that were formerly part of the Communist bloc: the simplified list is expected to include a wide range of networking software after the allied forces in the Gulf discovered that the Iraqis had a remarkably effective command and control system that used widely-available networking software.
