Fujitsu Ltd has transferred manufacture of most its IBM 3705-compatible communications processors from Japan to its US plant in Hillsboro, Oregon, and is now shipping the front-end processors back to Japan from the US plant for marketing with its M-series mainframes. The plant also supplies Amdahl Corp, a few hundred miles down the coast in Sunnyvale, with versions of the communications processor for marketing with its 5990s.
