Coade releases 64-bit version of CADWorx 2009

To provide access to more random access memory when working with large drawings, models and other files

By CBR Staff Writer

Coade, a provider of engineering software, has released a 64-bit version of CADWorx Plant Design Suite 2009, designed to take advantage of 64-bit system platforms running a current 64-bit version of AutoCAD.

According to the company, upgrading to a 64-bit system (hardware, operating system and software) delivers a number of benefits for plant designers and engineers and can be a solution for those out of memory error messages that can occur when working on extremely large files. One of the key advantages of a 64-bit system is that it provides access to more random access memory to help speed processing when working with large drawings, models and other files.

Coade claims that the CADWorx Plant Design Suite for process plant design offers intelligent drawing to database connectivity, advanced levels of design automation and design tools. Because of these distinct advantages, it has been adopted by EPC firms and owner operators in the process, power, water treatment, pharmaceutical, food and beverage and semiconductor industries.

Joe Dixon, product manager for plant design solutions at Coade, said: One of the challenges for some plant designers is that, when working on extremely large drawings or multiple large files, their system performance slows down or even stops altogether due to inadequate memory or the inability to fully access available memory. The new 64-bit version of CADWorx running on a full 64-bit platform responds to this challenge, keeping them productive and eliminating the associated frustrations and down time when such things occur.
