The Government’s concerted efforts to stamp out football hooliganism with some kind of electronic membership card scheme is already generating a good deal of interest in computing circles: information consultants Computer Management Group estimates that the installation of the sort of technology necessary to create a national membership database could furbish somebody with a contract worth UKP20m, and although it’s still early days, Thorn EMI’s Thorn Security, long associated with a number of clubs, and able to offer software collaboration possibilites with sisters Datasolve and Software Sciences, is known to be watching the whole situation with some interest.
