Siemens is planning to build an open cloud platform based on SAP HANA for analysing large industrial datasets.
It is expected to help Siemens provide a platform for data-based services for asset managenment, predictive maintenance, and energy data management.
Planned to be offered as a platform as a service for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and application developers, the open cloud platform is also likely to aid in the creation of applications for data analytics.
According to Siemens, the platform will be based on the open IT ecosystem of SAP HANA Cloud, to allow OEMs to create their own application for data analystics.
OEMs can use the platform for their own services like online monitoring of machine tools, industrial robots or industrial machinery such as compressors and pumps located in different locations across the world.
Siemens managing board member Klaus Helmrich said, "The establishment of the new cloud platform will make a significant contribution to driving forward the digitalisation of automation.
"Powerful services for analysing data from industry are an important part of our digital enterprise strategy." The new cloud platform, Siemens is also enhancing its Plant Data Services to include "Plant Cloud Services".
In order to ensure security, the solution will use encrypted communication as well as certified data centres for processing and storing the data.
