Oracle’s drive to become a leading cloud player is seeing the company go on a recruitment drive across EMEA.
The company, which has set the target of becoming one of the leading players in the cloud market, is aiming to hire 1,400 cloud sales professionals that will push the company’s cloud business throughout the region.
The decision to hire these sales professionals comes following extensive investment in its cloud portfolio. The company says that the investment is in the region of billions and has seen it transition its software business to one that is nearly completely available in the cloud.
The scale of this is highlighted by the fact that over 600 different cloud applications are available from the company.
In the past six months, Big Red says that it has added around 1,500 new software as a service customers and over 2,100 platform as a service customers.
Of course, while its cloud business is growing, it needs to grow even faster if it is to successfully catch up with the likes of AWS and improve its financial results that have been hit by declining revenues from software sales.
This could be one of the reasons why the company is going on such an extensive drive to add sales professionals.
The company will be basing the new roles in six locations, in Amsterdam, Cairo, Dubai, Dublin, Malaga and Prague.
