News: The goal is to help enterprises embrace cloud services for their businesses.

By CBR Staff Writer

Samsung and Oracle have partnered to provide a platform for enterprises to take their business to the cloud.

The two companies are working together to provide developers and solution providers with advanced tools to create and deliver enterprise solutions and mobile apps.

The goal of this joint effort is to help professionals gain a new level of mobile functionality for ultimate engagement and productivity.

The companies are working together with select systems integrators to help customers across several industries leverage their existing legacy systems and take advantage of the benefits of mobile and cloud, in addition to modernising IT infrastructure, empowering users and helping to realise greater cost efficiencies.

In order to help their customers modernise their enterprise applications with rich mobile user experience, the two companies are working to expand a set of Apache Condova plug-ins and code samples.

Both the companies will leverage their core strengths: Oracle’s enterprise software and mobile cloud solutions and Samsung’s device features.

Samsung Electronics, Enterprise Business Team vice president Young Kim said: "In today’s mobile environment, it is critical that businesses deploy a mobile-first strategy to maintain success and accomplish growth."

"Samsung and Oracle are not only helping customers through mobility but also enabling developers and solution providers to create next generation mobile applications and services that are driving a new frontier of productivity."

Oracle group vice president, Sri Ramanathan said: "With the combination of Oracle Mobile Cloud Service and Samsung’s industry-defining device capabilities, we are continuing to advance and simplify enterprise mobility, bringing enterprises to a new level of performance."

Samsung and Oracle together have worked with several system integrators to create innovative mobile and Internet of Things enterprise solutions. Some of these solutions will be showcased at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to be held between 22-25 February, 2016.

These include predictive maintenance solution built for HCL Technologies and powered by Samsung Gear S2, the Oracle IoT Cloud Service and the Oracle Service Cloud. The solution derives intelligence from data to help enterprises effectively bring down the cost of maintaining high value assets.

They have developed contracts management solution for Sofbang which allows comprehensive management and approval of contracts through notifications on Samsung Gear S wearables. All data is secured by Samsung’s KNOX mobile security platform.

The smart service solution developed for L&T Infotech uses Oracle IoT Cloud Service along with Samsung tablets, smartphones and wearables to help increase asset operating life, decrease downtime and ensure proactive maintenance.
