News: OpenShift Enterprise 3.1 can run on private and public cloud.

By CBR Staff Writer

Red Hat has further enhance its OpenShift cloud development platform for developing and deploying enterprise-ready applications with a new offering which includes OpenShift Enterprise 3.1 and Red Hat Atomic Enterprise Platform Public Preview.

OpenShift Enterprise 3.1 and Enterprise Platform Public Preview will combine to provide a comprehensive platform for running traditional and container-based applications without having to re-architect applications to run on Red Hat technologies.

OpenShift Enterprise 3.1 has been designed to deploy and run stateful and stateless applications on private and public cloud infrastructure.

It is based on Docker format Linux containers, Kubernetes orchestration, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 which will provide IT operations teams with actionable insight and streamlined management and that will support newer cloud native stateless as well as traditional stateful applications.

Some of the new updates in OpenShift Enterprise 3.1 include Application lifecycle management for containers that includes new and updated self-service tools for developing applications from Web, command line or IDE interfaces.

It also includes an enterprise-grade container infrastructure that is designed to provide a stable Docker container format standard and the Kubernetes orchestration engine.

OpenShift Enterprise 3.1 is also designed to provide access to new Red Hat JBoss Middleware services, and will provide advanced management capabilities.
