Real-time Hybrid Cloud software looks to shatter adoption barriers

Enterprises can stream production workloads to and from the cloud in minutes.

By CBR Staff Writer

Velostrata has launched a real-time hybrid cloud software, which decouples compute from storage.

The decoupling of the two aspects allows enterprises to stream production workloads to and from the cloud in minutes, while storage will remain on-premises ensuring better security and compliance.

The technology is currently being tested by large and mid-size enterprise firms.

Organisations are no longer required to overprovision the data centre or pay for continuous block storage in the cloud.

Velostrata said the software enhances business agility, avoids vendor lock-in, and optimises performance end-to-end.

The same management tools and processes can be utilised without changing the apps, images or storage.

Primary use cases evaluated by organisations include data centre extension, cloud bursting, storage consolidation, hybrid disaster recovery, and dev/test.

Velostrata CEO and co-founder Issy Ben-Shaul said: "Today, hybrid cloud deployments have largely been limited to corner-cases, because there are just far too many barriers involved for general-purpose use, and in particular, customers don’t want to move their large production data assets permanently to the cloud.

"At Velostrata, we have developed a breakthrough technology that eliminates those barriers and our unique approach has already transformed the hybrid cloud strategy for our large enterprise users."

Velostrata has secured $14m in funding from Norwest Venture Partners and Greylock Partners IL (83North).
