Oracle ups the cloud ante: 5 major cloud advances

List: Key products such as Elastic Compute were unveiled at the company's OpenWorld 2015 conference.

By James Nunns

Oracle has been a busy company this week during its OpenWorld event in San Franciso. Big Red has pushed out a number of enhancements to its product portfolio and added new features.

Oracle’s main motivation behind the new products is to rival AWS and to make itself a viable competitor in the public cloud market.

CBR keeps you up to date with the biggest developments from the second and third days of the conference.

1. Cloud Infrastructure Services

The big talk came from Oracle President Thomas Kurian’s keynote, in which he revealed updates to Oracle’s infrastructure services that included; elastic compute and storage to run any enterprise application in the cloud.

The IaaS services also included Container Cloud, as the company looks to make it easier to quickly deploy applications in its cloud.

Elastic Compute, is a service that AWS has had for a number of years, meaning that Oracle’s version will be in direct competition.
