Oracle is joining forces with Mirantis to allow Oracle Solaris customers and Mirantis OpenStack users to speed up application and database provisioning in private cloud. environments through Murano, Mirantis’ OpenStack application catalogue project.
With the collaboration, Oracle’s database designed for the cloud, Database 12c and Oracle Multitenant, will be deployed on Oracle Solaris to Murano, making it the first Oracle cloud-ready products to be available in the Mirantis’ OpenStack application catalogue.
Oracle’s OpenStack for Oracle Solaris blends administration of the Oracle Solaris operating system with the quickness of OpenStack, helping to create a comprehensive cloud platform for running enterprise applications and Oracle Databases.
Oracle Multitenant, on the other hand, will facilitate support of multiple Pluggable Databases within a single Multitenant Container Database.
The company highlighted that thePluggable Database will provide an isolated and secure environment to run applications, and the consolidated Container Databases will provide a single environment for a cloud provider to boost economies of scale.
Oracle also added that with few clicks, cloud users and developers will be able to securely provide Pluggable Databases on Oracle Solaris from OpenStack.
It will also allow applications access new and existing Pluggable Databases in a secure manner from OpenStack, and allow OpenStack applications to use advanced security, performance and efficiency of software in silicon technology that has been built into Oracle’s systems – based on SPARC M7 processors running on Oracle Database 12c on Oracle Solaris.
Mirantis CEO Adrian Ionel said: "Oracle Database is critical for many enterprises.
"The integration between Oracle Database 12c, Oracle Solaris and Mirantis OpenStack in the upcoming Mirantis OpenStack 6.1 release will allow those customers to quickly deploy Oracle Database applications with a few clicks."
