Nationwide Building Society has selected solutions from TBM SaaS application provider Apptio, in efforts to reduce its IT costs and add quality and value to its enterprise IT services.
Nationwide plans to use Apptio’s Cost Transparency application to save IT costs by up to £8m within the first year of implementation.
Nationwide is expected to optimise costs in areas including outsourced vendor contracts and software licensing ATM performance.
The company’s IT team is already using Apptio’s TBM SaaS applications to help its business partners manage IT spend, and to help the business drive better decisions and business outcomes, along with optimisation of multi-channel service.
Nationwide highlighted that prior to implementing Apptio’s application, the company’s IT department faced problem determining the exact cost of the technology it provided to the business, actual running cost of IT, and the unit cost of delivery.
Nationwide Chief Information Officer Debra Bailey said, "We needed a method to bring clarity and transparency to the way we counted the cost of IT, and to be able to connect it to things like property costs more easily.
"The advantage TBM gives is that we can take a view of both the IT and Finance costs from multiple angles."
Apptio VP of EMEA Colin Rowland added: "Apptio powers some of the world’s largest and most innovative IT organisations.
"Financial institutions like Nationwide need greater visibility over their IT costs so they can deliver insights that support optimisation and growth and, ultimately, to run IT as a business."
