IBM ramps up cloud & data services

News: Company targets end-to-end services at education, retail and the Internet of Things.

By James Nunns

IBM is expanding its cloud-based business solutions with additional Industry Platforms.

The company launched a large portfolio of Cloud Business Solutions in 2014, which packaged multiple services and technologies into one agreement. The idea behind this is to deliver end-to-end solutions as-a-service.

The latest Industry Platforms include, Retail Consumer Experience, which is a consumer engagement platform that is designed to help retailers to quickly deploy engagement capabilities.

The Personalised Learning platform is designed to deliver data-driven personalised learning, with the goal being to improve teaching.

The third platform is Insights for a Connected World, this is aimed at industries that are being reshaped by IoT. The platform uses large amounts of data from numerous sources to deliver insights for users.

The aim of this is to then sell those insights to ecosystem partners, or to use them to inform business models, improve customer service and business operations.

In addition to these releases, the company is opening an IBM Cloud Business Innovation Centre in Bangalore.
