IBM Cloud has expanded its Bluemix ecosystem in China to fuel blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT) inovation.

BluemixIn partnership with China-based 21Vianet Group, IBM intends to bring blockchain, IoT and advanced cloud data services to its Bluemix cloud platform.

Big Blue partnered with 21Vianet last October to bring IBM Bluemix to China.

The latest announcement will see IBM deliver a set of blockchain and IoT services to China’s developer community.

IBM Blockchain services are now available on IBM Bluemix in China. The US company recently made available signed blockchain code image, allowing Chinese companies to download, install and run a Hyperledger Fabric Blockchain network on Docker-enabled environments.

IBM Bluemix operated by 21Vianet is currently helping Chinese firms transform and expand their cloud services to developers, helping to support entrepreneurship.

21Vianet said it plans to continue working with IBM to build a robust cloud ecosystem in China, combining its 20 years of expertise in data centre operations with the US company’s advanced cloud services and deep technical experience.

Ernie Hu heads up IBM Cloud in China.

IBM China general manager for cloud Ernie Hu said: “Providing the infrastructure of Bluemix, combined with these latest technologies from both IBM and a growing roster of partners and Chinese service providers, will equip our country’s developers with the set of tools they need to fuel more intelligent and advanced innovations across China’s fastest-growing industries, including manufacturing and financial services.”

Further, IBM and Cisco Systems expanded an existing global partnership to offer real-time data analytics services to Chinese companies managing remote operations like oil rigs, factories, shipping firms and mines.

Using Bluemix and IBM’s IoT technologies, combined with Cisco’s specialised analytics for data at the edge of a network, Chinese companies can now monitor their remote equipment in real-time.

Businesses can now build apps which learn and gain insight from the physical world.
