IBM brings in Enforcer for cloud security

IBM Cloud Security Enforcer helps organisations to see, manage and secure usage.

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM has launched a new technology to secure cloud apps that employees use on their own.

The new Cloud Security Enforcer technology gives enterprises visibility into all third-party cloud apps used by their employees.

Companies currently have visibility into only a fraction of the apps used by their workers. New research from IBM revealed that one-third of employees at Fortune 1000 firms share and upload corporate data on third-party cloud apps without the knowledge of their employer.

The Cloud Security Enforcer technology is capable of scanning a corporate network. It identifies the apps used by the employees, and provides a secure way to access them.

It enables IT teams to quickly react to threats on cloud apps employees are using and block as well as take action against those which may pose a risk.

The technology includes added security checks on the integrity and safety of apps. The checks are carried out with threat analytics from IBM X-Force, the company’s global threat intelligence network.

IBM said the technology will allow enterprises to lower the challenges of shadow IT, defend against malicious actors seeking to prey on unsafe cloud app usage.
