Fujitsu boosts cloud business with UShareSoft deal

News: Acquisition aims to raise company's profile in the global cloud market.

By CBR Staff Writer

Fujitsu has acquired French software company UShareSoft, in a move designed to boost its cloud business.

The acquisition will allow Fujitsu to incorporate UShareSoft’s primary software product UForge into Fujitsu Cloud Service K5, which is the core product of Fujitsu Digital Business Platform MetaArc.

UForge is a suite of automation software designed to make the process of building, migrating and delivering applications and systems for multi-cloud environments easier.

The Japanese multinational also plans to use UShareSoft in its cloud services R&D centre in Europe.

Fujitsu senior vice president Chiseki Sagawa said: "The acquisition of UShareSoft will work to further strengthen K5, and the new added value it enables, namely, the ease with which applications can be migrated to our cloud services and customer environments, will contribute to MetaArc.

"Moreover, we expect that cooperation between UShareSoft and Fujitsu group companies in Europe conducting business relating to software and the cloud, primarily FUJITSU Enabling Software Technology GmbH and Fujitsu RunMyProcess SAS, will raise our profile in the global cloud market."

The company has been trying to strengthen its cloud business, and in an attempt to do so it recently introduced MetaArc, a Digital Business Platform incorporating cloud, mobile, big data, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
